And now for another favorite topic of mine, all things caffeinated or sweet.

Temecula may be known for wineries and breweries, but we also have plenty of places to stop for coffee, pastries, ice cream, gelato, and old-fashioned candy.

You’ll find several of these spots in Old Town Temecula, but some of the most interesting choices are scattered throughout the city. I’ve focused primarily on independent and locally owned businesses, with a few larger brands included because they offer something distinctive—or because my family genuinely enjoys them.

Whether you need coffee before a day of sightseeing, a pastry for breakfast, or somewhere to take the kids for an afternoon treat, here are some Temecula coffee shops and dessert places to consider.

Some of the Best Places for Coffee and Tea in Temecula

The Press Espresso

The Press Espresso is one of Temecula’s most established local coffee businesses and my no-brainer go-to for coffee. The husband-and-wife-owned company roasts its own ethically sourced coffee and now has several locations throughout Temecula and Murrieta, including Old Town, Vail Headquarters, Winchester Marketplace, and Tower Plaza.

The menu includes espresso drinks, cold brew, tea, house-made syrups, and pastries. Creative drinks such as horchata lattes, honey lavender lattes, and butterscotch cold brew make it especially appealing when you want something beyond an ordinary cup of coffee. It’s also got a nice setup for sitting around chatting or working quietly on your laptop.

Le Coffee Shop

Le Coffee Shop brings an authentically French breakfast-and-coffee experience to Old Town Temecula. Owners Yoann and Charlotte Bounat are from Provence, and the menu includes cappuccinos and lattes alongside croissants, pain au chocolat, quiche, crepes, waffles, and other French-inspired breakfast dishes.

It’s a small and popular place, so you may encounter a line on busy mornings. Fortunately, you can stop in for a pastry and coffee to go even if you don’t have time for a sit-down breakfast.

East Coffee

East Coffee is a welcoming neighborhood café near Margarita and Pauba Roads. It serves handcrafted coffee along with fresh French pastries, muffins, croissants, waffles, and savory quiches.

This is a particularly convenient option for visitors staying in the residential areas of south Temecula—and a useful local coffee shop to know about when you don’t plan to be near Old Town.

Mama’s Haus Tea & Boba

Mama’s Haus Tea & Boba is a family-owned spot specializing in Vietnamese coffee, milk tea, boba, matcha, and fruit drinks. You can choose one of the café’s prepared combinations or build your own drink with different flavors and toppings.

The food menu extends beyond sweets and drinks, with options such as bánh mì, rice bowls, popcorn chicken, bao, musubi, and Korean corn dogs. It’s a fun stop when different people in your group are craving different things.

Our Matcha Place

Our Matcha Place is an all-pink specialty café in Old Town Temecula devoted primarily to matcha. The family-owned shop uses first-harvest ceremonial-grade Japanese matcha sourced directly from growers in Japan.

In addition to customizable matcha drinks, the menu includes premium hojicha, adaptogenic coffee, herbal teas, wellness add-ins, and small bites. The colorful setting and unusual drink combinations make it one of Temecula’s more distinctive café experiences.

Temecula Grind Coffee House

Temecula Grind Coffee House is an independent and popular coffee shop on Temecula Parkway. It opens early and serves coffee, espresso drinks, smoothies, pastries, and other quick morning options.

Because it sits toward the southern end of town, it’s especially convenient for travelers coming from San Diego County or staying near Redhawk, Pechanga, or south Temecula.

Bakeries and Pastry Shops in Temecula

E.A.T. Marketplace

E.A.T. Marketplace is one of the most useful places in Temecula when someone in your group has dietary restrictions. Its dedicated gluten-free bakery makes a surprisingly broad assortment of vegan, paleo, keto, and gluten-free treats.

Depending on the day, the case may include vegan donuts, paleo brownies (yum!) and banana bread, gluten-free cookies and scones, keto churro donuts, muffins, biscuits, and cinnamon rolls. I’m not a gluten-free gal myself, but if a visitor asked me where to find the widest selection of special-diet baked goods in Temecula, this is where I would send them! (They also have a full savory, non-baked goods menu.)

Little Goat Kitchen + Bakeshop

Little Goat Kitchen + Bakeshop is the bakery-café sibling of the extremely popular Temecula restaurant The Goat & Vine. Its dedicated bakery produces French-style pastries, croissants, cinnamon rolls, sourdough bread, baguettes, and other baked goods from scratch.

The menu also includes breakfast sandwiches, salads, grain bowls, sandwiches, and 10-inch stone-hearth pizzas. With a full espresso bar and both sweet and savory choices, it works equally well for a quick pastry stop or a casual breakfast or lunch.

Abode Bake House & Kitchen

Abode Bake House & Kitchen specializes in long-fermented, California-style sourdough bagels that are hand-rolled daily. The café also has a full espresso bar, seasonal spreads and toppings, house-made syrups, and a carefully selected assortment of pastries and sweets.

Abode is still one of the newer additions to the Temecula bakery scene. Because the bagels are made in limited daily batches, arriving earlier is a good idea—especially on a weekend. And although not a sweet treat, my son tried the lox and bagel sandwich for breakfast last week. He said it was great.

The Crafted Scone

The Crafted Scone began in nearby Murrieta and now has two Temecula locations, including one on Old Town Front Street and another near the Promenade (at the location of the old Starbucks in Old Town).

As its name suggests, the specialty here is scones, with a rotating selection of sweet and savory flavors. You can also order coffee, tea, handcrafted sodas, smoothies, avocado toast, and “sconewiches” made by slicing and filling one of the bakery’s scones. I love this place for just a coffee or hot chocolate, too. Definitely make it a stop one morning if you’re staying in or near Old Town.

Lemon Bar Bakery

Lemon Bar Bakery is a locally owned bakery and coffee shop specializing in celebration cakes and nostalgic baked treats. In addition to its signature lemon bars, the bakery offers brownies, cookies, cupcakes, mini cakes, bundt cakes, and seasonal pastries.

This is a good shop to know about if you need a birthday or special-event cake while you’re in town, but you can also stop by for coffee and see what’s available in the pastry case that day.

Batter Up Bakery

Batter Up Bakery is an established Temecula bakery and coffee shop near Ynez Road and the Promenade. Its walk-in selection includes cupcakes, macarons, croissants, personal pies, mini desserts, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee drinks.

The bakery also creates custom cakes and dessert displays for weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations. It’s a practical choice when you want an everyday treat but also need a bakery capable of handling a larger special order.

Oak Grove Culinary Creations

Oak Grove Culinary Creations is more than an Old Town bakery. It operates as a vocational training program that teaches culinary, hospitality, customer-service, and employment skills to at-risk and special-needs youth.

The bakery is led by a classically trained French pastry chef and sells cookies, cakes, cupcakes, brownies, lemon bars, cream puffs, and other pastries. Its Cookie Club features a changing Cookie of the Month, with purchases helping support the training program. This is definitely an enterprise worth supporting.

Paris Baguette

Paris Baguette is an international bakery-café chain, but the Temecula location deserves consideration for its enormous pastry selection and convenient location near the Promenade.

The brightly lit, self-service cases are filled with sweet and savory croissants, breads, donuts, cream-filled pastries, macarons, cake slices, and colorful whole cakes. It also stays open later than many of Temecula’s independent bakeries, which can be helpful when you want dessert in the evening.

Nothing Bundt Cakes

Nothing Bundt Cakes is another national chain I’m making an exception for because my family genuinely loves it. It’s become our favorite birthday-treat stop because everyone can get their own little bundlet in their favorite flavor. Mine: the chocolate chocolate-chip.

The cream cheese frosting somehow never tastes too sweet to me, and the cakes themselves are moist and flavorful.

Corbeaux Wine & Tea House

Corbeaux Wine & Tea House is not a traditional walk-in bakery, but it belongs in this guide for its reservation-only afternoon tea.

The experience includes a tiered assortment of sweet and savory bites that changes with the season. Corbeaux also hosts themed teas and special dining events throughout the year. Reservations are important, particularly when a limited themed tea is announced.

Ice Cream and Gelato in Temecula

And now for my favorite ‘food group’: ice cream.

Unique Pastry Factory

Unique Pastry Factory makes Italian-style gelato from scratch on-site using fresh, seasonal ingredients.

The other specialty here is the Hungarian chimney cake—a spiral of sweet yeast dough baked until golden and coated with ingredients such as cinnamon or nuts. You can order one separately or use a chimney cake as an especially decadent gelato cone.

Mariposa Homemade Ice Cream

Mariposa Homemade Ice Cream makes its ice cream in small batches on-site and generally offers a large daily selection of flavors. Its ice cream contains less incorporated air than many mass-produced varieties, giving it a dense and creamy texture.

The recipes are also made without eggs or gluten, although I’d suggest that anyone with a serious allergy should always ask about individual flavors and possible cross-contact.

Dōh Creamery

Dōh Creamery is a family-owned Temecula shop serving house-made ice cream, edible cookie dough, and waffle cones. Its rotating ice cream selection includes traditional dairy flavors along with dairy-free and vegan choices.

If deciding between ice cream and cookie dough feels impossible, this is the place where you don’t necessarily have to choose.

Milk & Cookies

Milk & Cookies combines warm, freshly baked cookies with small-batch ice cream and cold milk. Although it now has several locations, the concept still feels more distinctive than a standard chain ice cream shop, so I wanted to include it.

You can order cookies and ice cream separately or put them together in an ice cream sandwich! This is an easy crowd-pleaser.

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream is a larger regional and national brand, but the Temecula location has become a prominent local ice cream stop. Handel’s is known for making its ice cream fresh in-store and offering a substantial assortment of flavors.

It’s a dependable option for generous scoops, sundaes, shakes, and classic ice cream flavors, particularly when you need a shop that stays open later in the evening. I always go for the cookie dough flavor.

Bottega Italia

Bottega Italia is a family-owned Italian restaurant in Old Town with house-made gelato available by the cup, cone, or sampler flight. Flavors regularly include dark chocolate (I can vouch for this one; it’s a little spoonful of heaven), pistachio, hazelnut, tiramisu, salted butter caramel, stracciatella, and seasonal fruit choices.

You can stop at the counter solely for gelato or stay for a complete Italian meal and finish with cannoli, tiramisu, or another dessert. Their margherita pizza is currently our favorite pizza in town. This is a must-stop if you’ll be in Old Town for dinner or dessert.

Mercato di Vienza at Europa Village

Mercato di Vienza is the Italian deli and market inside the Vienza section of Europa Village. You don’t have to be there for wine tasting to enjoy the market, although it is located on the winery property (where you can also stay the night).

Along with gelato, the market offers Italian pastries, packaged cookies, cannoli, tiramisu, and an affogato made with vanilla gelato and espresso. It’s a lovely place to pick up a treat and enjoy the European-inspired grounds.

Candy Shops in Old Town Temecula

Old Town Sweet Shop

Old Town Sweet Shop is filled with retro candy, novelty sweets, chocolates, caramel apples, and modern favorites. Candy is sold by weight, making it easy to create your own mixed bag.

The shop also serves ice cream and makes fudge in-house. It has been part of Old Town for years and has always been one of our favorites stop on Front Street.

The Sugar Spot

The Sugar Spot is another colorful Old Town candy store, with bulk candy, nostalgic treats, freeze-dried candy, imported and exotic snacks, fudge, caramel apples, ice cream, and dirty sodas.

Between the bright displays, unusual snacks, and sheer volume of sugar, this is one of those places that children will spot long before their parents do.

What Are You Craving?

Local businesses sometimes adjust their hours, sell out early, or close for private events. Check the business’s current website or social-media page before making a special trip, and get planning for your next Temecula coffee and dessert outing.
